A beautiful gypsy from Seville with a fiery temper, Carmen played a dangerous game with love. She wooed the corporal Don Jose, leading him to mutiny against his superior, but left him for the bullfighter Escamillo. Carmen was stabbed to death by Don Jose, who was driven mad by her abandonment.
