CHE GUEVARA
(June 14, 1928 - October 9, 1967)
Trained as a physician at the University of Buenos Aires, Che took part in riots against dictator Juan Peron in Argentina, joined agitators in Bolivia, and worked in a leper colony. He became Castro's chief lieutenant soon after the rebel invasion of Cuba in 1956, in which he proved to be a resourceful guerilla leader. Che was a consummate and tireless revolutionary who ventured from country to country, campaigning for the rights of the poor and the oppressed.
